yeah, unfortunately the candidate must be in the USA. If you're in a high cost of living area then I agree there are other opportunities that make more sense. 🙂

Netflix, Google, Facebook, etc. are all better for high cost of living areas.

you have to be authorized to work in the USA. I'm not sure why that's the policy.

"Authorized to work in the USA" is misleading. What's really at stake here depending on your immigration status is "Authorized to be paid to work in the US"
Anyone can work for free in the US, even on a tourist visa.
