I am looking for a freelancing Kotlin Backend Engineer who could support us further enhancing our global payment service on-site in our office in Berlin for about 6 months. Hourly rate negotiable. Here is some more info about what we are building exactly: https://tech.olx.com/olx-payments-powered-by-kotlin-95eb77bafacb Feel free to message me with any questions you might have!

did you read the channel policy? it’s easy: it’s in the description
but just because it’s you: CHANNEL POLICY - Job ads need to have a specific description of what is expected, location, remote/on-site, and salary range - postings without the above information will be deleted
seems like your job ad doesn’t comply

@nfrankel can you please write what the ad is missing? Except for the hourly rate (that, I believe, is conceptually different from salary range) everything seems fine to me

that’s the point: can you can please define the hourly rate you’re willing to pay?

but should you do it for a freelancing position? My understanding, but I have no experience in this field, is that it’s you, as a freelancer, that decide how much your experience and time is worth. So putting there just a number, seems to me nothing more than noise

it’s also true that an employee decides how much he’s worth the policy is made so that developers don’t lose their time since the company already knows the range
so they they only apply if there’s a potential match whether as a regular employee or a freelancer

I don’t personally agree on this, I do believe that the salary range should be part of the initial discussion, giving a company the possibility to understand if the problem in a job offer is the salary range or not
I do believe that a job description well done is much more important and this channel should help connecting kotlin engineers all over the world, like it did for me
but again, I don’t make the rules here, so 🤷‍♂️

Maybe companies aren’t telling salary or hourly ranges to get cheaper developers.

Not the case here, thing is that hourly rates for freelancers fluctuate quite a bit and I simply did not have a good average to name I deemed accurate. But if you insist on it so much then I can tell you that we paid between 70-90 EUR before taxes in the past.

no imagine the time that we all would have gained if you had just told that upfront 🙂

@benjamin-olx looks like a good offer - I think we’ll gladly keep it here, thanks for sharing 🙂 keep in mind that some companies come here, and offer 12$/h, and put “free weekends” in the benefits section
