to remain on jdk8 and use javafx your only option is oracle
r
You can install OpenJFX 8 independently. You do not need to use Oracle JDK to use JavaFX in JDK 8.
k
sure, technically, you can do that
but it’s not a realistic option for anybody distributing an application
m
sure it is
if you use javapackager it's bundled
i've done it a bunch of times
k
hmm. interesting. i can’t even find a download for openjfx 8.
r
I've only ever done it through a package manager, so I'm not sure how to help you there 🙂
k
yeah that’s the only place i’ve seen openjfx 8 available
ever
everything else is instructions to build it yoursel
v
Agree, that it does not seem to be an option to build and distribute additional 78 MiB of OpenJFX (78 MiB for Linux / we have separate java-openjfx package in Arch)
